UK’s ‘fastest growing’ AltNet provider aims to connect one million homes to full fibre by 2023
Altnet provider Netomnia has published details of its 2022/23 network rollout plans.
The Gloucestershire-based firm aims to connect 1 million homes by the end of next year.
Plans include rolling out full-fibre infrastructure in 48 exchange areas across England, Scotland, and Wales. Netomnia will also start its first network build in Northern Ireland later this year. It will make Netomnia the first AltNet provider with live connections in all four UK countries.
Netomnia claims to be the fastest-growing Altnet in the UK. And it has the figures to back it up. In the last two years, the company has connected over 200,000 UK homes and business premises to full fibre. It’s currently connecting an additional 30,000 premises per month.
“Passing 210,000 premises in under two years is an unprecedented achievement for a company of our size,” says Jeremy Chelot, Chief Executive Officer at Netomnia. “And although we’ve set ourselves a very ambitious goal, we’re well on track to meet our one million premises target and accelerate the UK’s transition to full-fibre.”
“The plans we’ve just announced mark an exciting step forward as we continue to scale rapidly, rolling out full fibre broadband across the UK. Netomnia’s network will ensure multi-gigabit connectivity for decades to come.”
Netomnia secured £418million in funding to support its rollout strategy, including a significant investment from Digital Bridge, one of the world’s largest digital infrastructure firms. DigitalBridge invests in companies that provide infrastructure solutions for next-generation mobile and internet technologies.
“We’ve known about Netomnia for several years and are excited to partner with them in scaling the firm into a premier fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) provider in the UK,” says Manjari Govada, a Principal Investment Strategist at DigitalBridge. “We’ve been highly impressed with the growth of the business and its company culture.”
