The UK’s Full Fibre Roll-out Marches on

Two more of the UK’s independent internet providers have announced additional gigabit-ready network roll-outs.

Netomnia and Truespeed unveiled the plans earlier this month, which include network builds in Nottingham, Bedford, Essex, Somerset, and parts of Scotland.

Gloucestershire-based Netomnia, which claims to be the UK’s fastest-growing network, will connect over 100,000 homes to full-fibre, doubling its current live connections by the end of 2023. The firm uses existing underground ducting and infrastructure, minimising disruption to the local community and environment. It can install a new network within a few weeks.

“I’m incredibly pleased to continue expanding our network across the UK,” says Jeremy Chelot, Netomnia CEO. “We believe everyone should have access to reliable, ultrafast broadband, and Netomnia aims to deliver this. Our full fibre network will benefit the local economies and communities, supporting their growth and prosperity for years to come.”

Truespeed’s expansion will focus on the South and South-West of England. Its networks will connect local businesses to superfast networks. Truespeed believes that slow broadband speeds and unreliable connectivity prevent many companies from reaching their full potential.

The AltNet provider recently connected its 300th business, Kelston Veterinary Surgery. And the firm is already enjoying all the benefits of full fibre internet technology.

“Our in-house laboratory equipment and digital X-ray system rely on a fast and reliable connection,” said Kelston Vets veterinary practitioner Ian Cardiff. “Truespeed’s broadband allows us to send, receive, and share patients’ results instantly, leading to a more rapid diagnosis and effective treatment plan.”

“And we can now support innovative microchipping software, meaning we have the capability to reconnect owners with lost pets as quickly as possible. High speed, full fibre transformed our business and our patients’ lives for the better.”

The goal of connecting all UK homes and businesses to full fibre is getting closer every day, and AltNets like Netomnia and Truespeed are making it happen.
