GoFibre’s Full fibre Broadband Network coming soon to Melrose

GoFibre’s Full fibre Broadband Network coming soon to Melrose

Construction of a new transformative full-fibre broadband network could begin across the city of Melrose in the coming weeks as planning nears completion. The network, to be built by Scottish independent broadband manufacturer and service provider GoFibre, would connect more than 1,400 residents and businesses to the power of full fibre. GoFibre was founded by CEO Alex Cacciamani with his wife Laura in his hometown of Duns in the Borders. GoFibre has long been associated with the region and will continue to support the community with world-class connectivity for years to come.

Full fibre optic networks are recognised as the best type of connectivity, allowing communities to upload and download data without the disruptions that ageing copper networks bring. However, it is currently only available to around 32% of UK offices, putting Melrose at the forefront of a revolution.

GoFibres aim is to provide Melrose with future-proof digital connectivity and bridge the ongoing digital divide across Scotland, particularly when it comes to rural and hard-to-reach communities. Once set up, speeds of up to 10Gbps would be available, enabling residents and businesses to work effectively from home, run multiple devices simultaneously without lag, and download entire box sets in seconds.

Alex Cacciamani, GoFibre’s CEO, said: “GoFibre’s  construction planning phase went very well and as such they intend to begin their transformative work to connect Melrose with the best available digital connectivity in September.”
