Giganet acquires Cuckoo
Giganet acquires Cuckoo – twice voted the UK’s best broadband provider for customer service – continuing market-leading growth in the UK as part of the Fern fibre family.
Since the launch of fibre-optic broadband service to homes just over 12 months ago, Giganet has seen its reach expand to over nine million homes across the UK. Now Giganet and Cuckoo will work together to revolutionise the UK broadband market by prioritising service and customer experience as full fibre adoption accelerates over the next few years. Giganet and Cuckoo are against loyalty taxes and price increases, committed to charging loyal customers the same fees as new customers and have chosen not to increase fees during the term of the contract as prices are currently frozen until 2023.
As part of the acquisition, it is planned that Cuckoo will become the leading consumer brand for Giganet’s consumers, with Giganet continuing to be the brand serving its growing business base. Both brands will continue to benefit from the growing fibre network partnerships that have helped Giganet achieve its national reach.
Giganet, a multi-award-winning ISP, was recently voted Overall Fibre Provider of the Year at this year’s UK Fibre Awards, launching 2021 as the consumer and business ISP brand, offering full fibre connectivity across multiple platforms. Following a funding injection of £250m from Fern Trading Limited, advised by Octopus Investments, Giganet is now working to connect hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses in the UK by building its own full fibre-optic network infrastructure, as well as through nationwide presences of CityFibres and Openreachs. Following today’s acquisition, Giganet & Cuckoo will accelerate its nationwide growth. Cuckoo was launched in 2020 to disrupt the broken telecoms sector. In the two years since launch, Cuckoo has switched thousands of customers, been voted the top provider in the UK for customer service by MoneySavingExpert and has grown its team to over 50 people, earning a Glassdoor score of 4.9/5 .
