Full fibre Ultra fast Broadband available in Penrith
Fibrus is now available on around 3,700 properties across Penrith and we expect the presence to continue to grow as their goal is to reach 7,600 properties across the city. It’s possible the footprint is already higher, but the 3,700 represents what we were able to find on May 31st. Penrith is the start of a wider roll out in England and the full fibre optic operator is expected to appear in Kendal in due course.
Penrith residents can access full fibre broadband and make everyday activities easier and faster, whether it’s streaming videos, posting on social media or holding virtual work meetings. The Fibrus network can seamlessly connect multiple devices simultaneously, allowing users to say goodbye to lag and buffering. Penrith is the first Cumbrian town to benefit from the expansion of the Fibrus network beyond Northern Ireland and the company will expand rapidly, investing £200m across Cumbria. Immediate starting schedules include Kendal, Burneside, Staveley, Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside. Fibrus is focused on supporting local communities, not only by providing hyper-fast broadband to rural areas, but also by creating around 100 jobs in the area.
Services start in the Penrith area for 150Mbps download and 150Mbps upload service (i.e. symmetric) with a special offer of six months free service for those who by the end of July 2022. The offer brings the monthly equivalent price down to 26.66/m over the 18-month minimum contract period, which looks much more reasonable. Higher speeds are available with the Gigabit product priced at £59.99/m
