Fibre Optic Broadband in Northwich, Comberbach and Hartford

The Freedom fibre team announced the full rollout of fibre optic broadband in Northwich, Comberbach and Hartford, bringing Cheshire coverage from Weaverham, where the gigabit-capable network is currently available, and Stockton Heath, where the network is planned, extended will go into operation at the beginning of August. The full fibre optic network rollout will cover the surrounding villages of Pickmere, Wincham, Lostock Gralam, Davenham, Moulton, Great Budworth and Barnton. Residents will be able to connect as early as Fall 2022, and additional areas covered by this build will be announced in the coming weeks.

David Hough, Network Operations Director, said: “Reliable, fast and affordable broadband is fast becoming a necessity for everyone. As we have moved into a digitally connected world, broadband is now seen as an essential utility service. Freedom fibre deploys a full fibre optic network that offers our customers future-proof connectivity using the latest technology to ensure we can provide the service residents and businesses require.”

The Internet of Things (IoT) will see the simplest of home appliances needing fast broadband to function at peak performance, and on the road to a net-zero society, reliable connectivity is essential to ensure devices run as efficiently as possible. Northwich is currently served by standard fibre or FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) broadband which still relies on copper phone line technology which will soon be phased out across the country.

The Freedom fibre network will provide citizens and businesses with access to all-fibre, or FTTP (Fibre to the Premises), broadband that does not rely on the copper network but instead brings full fibre-optic technology directly to the home or office. The result is a much faster and more reliable broadband connection.
