Edinburgh named as worst city for Broadband Outages
Research by utility comparison website Uswitch.com found that Edinburgh is one of the worst cities in the UK for broadband outages. With an average of almost two days without a connection over the past year, Edinburgh is the sixth worst city. However, this is a significant improvement compared to last year when the famous Scottish city topped the rankings. When Edinburgh residents are affected by a power outage, it has also been found that the average household suffers around 22.4 hours of downtime.
Whether it’s a service outage, power outages, or maintenance work, not having access to the internet can be incredibly frustrating for consumers.
To prevent these broadband outages it is best to switch to Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) (also known as Full Fibre). Some of the benefits of switching to fttp are as below
- As this type of broadband runs fibre optic cables straight from the broadband hub straight into your home, consumers can enjoy speeds up to 30 times faster than standard broadband. Many so-called fibre broadbands use the old copper wiring to your home, while full fibre is fibre optic cable throughout.
- Using fibre optic cable instead of copper also eliminates the all-too-familiar buffering and reliability issues.
- With new fibre optic cables being laid all the way from the fibre exchange to your home, you benefit from a brand new infrastructure, and the fibre is not affected by rain or electrical disturbances like old copper lines can be.
- One of the biggest benefits of FTTP broadband is that it has higher speed capacity, making it the ideal solution for households that heavily use the internet.
- Ultra-fast FTTP broadband can support the growing number of devices in the home and office
