Cityfibre’s Full Fibre Rollout In Solihull

A new report commissioned by CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform, has found that Solihull will be a major beneficiary of the rollout of future-proof full fibre infrastructure now well underway across the city. CityFibre’s £25 million investment in Solihull will include £239 million in productivity and innovation gains, £53 million from an expanded workforce, £11 million in local authority efficiency savings and £192 million in increased home value.

Technological benefits are also a focus of the report, which shows that the CityFibre’s network in Solihull will help generate 568m Gross Value Added (GVA) from 5G services, 147m from IoT and 101m from smart City initiatives such as intelligent traffic systems and street lighting open up.

The ongoing transition to working from home and flexible working, supported by full fibre access at home and in the office, is also opening up access for employers to a larger pool of workers. In Solihull, the productivity gain from flexible working is estimated at 14 million. Britain as a whole will benefit from over 38 billion potential economic benefits.

Productivity improvements and innovation are responsible for the greatest impact, resulting in more than 22 billion GVA gains nationwide. This is due to the positive effect that much faster and more reliable digital connectivity has been proven to have on business productivity and innovation, increasing sales and helping to create new companies and business models.
