CityFibre celebrates Full Fibre rollout in Wakefield

Internet users in Wakefield can now connect their homes and businesses to the best available digital infrastructure thanks to the advances of CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent, carrier-neutral, fttp platform. CityFibre has now released operational homes in Wakefield West and Wrenthorpe, as well as the Outwood West and Wakefield North Wards, meaning residents can choose to connect to fttp  when they go live.

When the citywide rollout will be completed in 2024, almost every local household and business will have access to fttp services.

CityFibre is making great strides in Wakefield and people are amazed at how much fibre CityFibre has installed in the last six months. Now that the first homes are connected, more and more residents will experience first-hand the far-reaching benefits of a full fibre optic connection.

Unlike the copper-based fibre optic broadband services available today, all-fibre networks use 100% fibre optic cables to carry data from home to the point of connection at lightning speed. This gives users consistently faster upload and download speeds (up to 1,000Mbps), nearly unlimited bandwidth so everyone at home can work, learn, stream or play at the same time while providing the connectivity users have come to rely on.

Construction will be supplied by O’Connor Utilities on behalf of CityFibre. The team uses a range of construction methodologies and works closely with Wakefield Council and local communities to enable rapid rollout while managing potential disruptions.
