£50million network roll-out brings full fibre broadband to North Cornwall

Gigabit-ready broadband is coming to thousands of homes across North Cornwall thanks to a new £50million network roll-out.

This latest project in the UK’s digital upgrade comes from Wildanet, an independent provider based in Cornwall. Wildanet’s high-speed packages start at £25 p/m and offer download speeds that are 40X faster than any other connections currently available in the region.

Construction has already begun in Launceston, Wadebridge and Bude, and the first connections are on track to go live at the end of September. Once up and running, the networks will connect over 4,500 homes to the latest full-fibre broadband technology, guaranteeing faster speeds and increased stability.

Scott Mann, MP for North Cornwall, joined Wildanet CEO Helen Wyld on the Launceston site to announce the welcome news.

“I’ve been very pleased to meet with and offer my support to Wildanet as they bring great technology and its benefits to people in Launceston,” said Mr Mann. “In addition to the enhanced service available to residents, many businesses in my constituency will thrive from faster broadband and more stable connections.”

“Wildanet is at the cutting edge of our mandate to level up rural and coastal constituencies, and I look forward to working with them in the months and years to come.”

Wylde emphasised her firm’s commitment to ensuring that every North Cornwall resident benefits from the UK’s full-fibre revolution.

“We believe every person should have the freedom to access the opportunities high-speed broadband provides and that no one should be forgotten or left behind by the digital revolution because of where they live or the standard of service they receive,” said Wylde.

And more networks are on the way. Local broadband providers were recently invited to bid for contracts worth £36million to install full-fibre connections to nearly 20,000 homes and properties in rural Cornwall.
