Community Fibre doubles its FTTP target to 2.2 million homes and businesses by the end of 2024.
London-based fibre broadband provider Community Fibre is doubling its FTTP target to 2.2 million homes and businesses by the end of 2024. Such a total would represent more than half of London’s 3.7 million homes, the network operator and ISP claims.
Community Fibre says its FTTP infrastructure already covers 435,000 homes and businesses in the London boroughs of Barnet, Brent, Bexley, Bromley, Camden, City of London, Croydon, Ealing, Enfield, Greenwich, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Kingston upon Thames, Lambeth, Lewisham, Merton, Newham, Richmond upon Thames, Southwark, Sutton, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Wandsworth and Westminster. Leveraging existing ducts and poles should make deployment of the new fibre-optic broadband network relatively quick and straightforward, the company says.
“The last two years have been challenging for everyone, which is why it’s more important than ever that we focus on giving communities in London the connectivity they need,” commented Graeme Oxby, CEO of Community Fibre.
“We have seen significant progress on our roll-out and will continue to do so over the next three years, to bring our 100% full fibre broadband to nearly two thirds of London citizens and businesses.
“We are working closely with landlords and local authorities to roll out better broadband across London and we have increased our commitment to making London gigabit ready. Also, by running our fibre network through the existing ducts under London’s streets and pavements, rather than digging trenches, our build will be less disruptive to residents and road users alike than some other operators.”

It is part of broader plans led by my Digital Inclusion Taskforce to bridge the digital divide, through reliable and affordable connectivity, access to devices and training. Community Fibre offers services up to 10 Gbps for businesses and up to 3 Gbps for residential customers.”
