CityFibre launches broadband solution for UK tenants
CityFibre, one of the UK’s largest independent broadband providers, has signed an agreement with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council to deliver high-speed, full fibre internet to tenants.
The firm will install high-speed routers into 4,000 tenant properties, giving current and future renters instant access to gigabit-ready broadband.
Full fibre broadband for renters is the latest phase of CityFibre’s £20milllion Gigabit investment programme, which promises to bring the fastest internet speeds available in the UK to Solihull and surrounding suburbs and rural areas, including Dorridge and Knowle.
Leigh Hunt, CityFibre’s City Manager for Solihull, said, “We want to ensure that as many homes as possible in Solihull are linked to Full Fibre – the fastest and most resilient digital infrastructure available. Somebody’s living situation or homeowner status should never be a barrier to high-speed internet.”
“It is fantastic that CityFibre is ready to start delivering broadband to tenants,” said Councillor Ian Courts, Leader of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.
“This once-in-a-generation upgrade will help deliver the benefits of full fibre to all our residents. It’s futureproofing our network infrastructure at a time when connectivity has never been so important. The digital age is here, and soon, Solihull will be ready for it.”
CityFibre isn’t the only AltNet provider committed to bringing full fibre broadband to the UK’s 13million private and social tenants.
HS4 Internet is in ongoing discussions with landlords and letting agents to install Pay As You Go broadband routers in rental properties across the North West.
Arranging new broadband contracts can be a major headache for tenants. It can take around two weeks to get online in a new home, and many providers charge an installation fee.
With preinstalled broadband, tenants can access the internet as soon as they enter their new home. And they don’t have to commit to lengthy or expensive contracts. It’s the ideal broadband solution for the UK’s renters and landlords.
